There are all different types of Bears; the Golden Bear, that’s Jack Nicklaus, just kidding, but seriously, there are Panda’s and Grizzly’s. Panda’s tend to be gentle whereas Grizzly’s are ferocious.
There was a 15 year period, roughly from 1967 to 1982, that was almost a Perma-Bear-Market. Call it a Panda, gentle, up&down (while oil went up 5x, if I remember correctly and inflation abounded).
And then the 2 most recent Grizzly’s, the Dot-Bomb (200-02) and the Financial Crisis (2007-09).
We’ve had 25 Bears and 25 Bulls since the Great Depression. We are currently experiencing Amanda25, awaiting Kevin26. Amanda and Kevin are my ‘names’ for Bulls & Bears (after all hurricanes get named now, with female and male names?).
