TSX in the red this year while most of the world’s markets surge
Everyone is paying attention to the Trump Rally in the USA, or the Canadian Banks, but take a look around, in 2017 so far, the TSX is flat/negative on the year.
And, if you take the 10 year view of the TSX, 15,193 at present, and 13,986 10 years ago (per the Globe&Mail’s charting software), results in only a 8.6% gain during those 10 years. Excluding dividends, that’s less than 1% per year. Far below inflation. Really far below Pension standards (3.5% plus inflation).
